The operation
Once again at the peak of desperation, destiny
brought me to Prof. Dr. Johann Bauer in Munich (Germany).
Until now, he is the only surgeon that operates for Fibromyalgia
microsurgically with local anesthesia.
He has expertise in the field of acupressure
diagnostics and this allowed him to do a pioneering discovery:
some points of acupuncture (effectively holes), where nerve-vessel-bunches
gather together (also called switch boxes of meridians), get sealed
up or blocked by a glue of proteins. Consequently the energy
doesn't flow any more and because nerves transmit pain, the pain
is experienced throughout the whole body and, depending on the gravity
of the illness, the pain is more or less constant.
As I read the book written by Prof. Bauer it
seemed to be the best in terms of its clarity and logic that I had
ever read on the subject. So there I was, eventually, finding the
right garage to service and repair my broken vehicle!
I had the first operation in July 2003 on
the left forearm (left upper quadrant).
The operation lasted only 1 hour.
The improvement has been immediate: the pains in my legs and knees
disappeared
I could walk again very well and, imagine, even run!
I felt less tired and therefore I had more energy.
I could sit for a longer time.
My blood circulation was better and, during wintertime, I could
even sleep with a summer blanket. The burning sensations on my back
became less and the migraines less frequent.
The second operation took place in March
2004 on the right forearm (right upper quadrant).
The lumbago pains disappeared together with the rigidity and aching
muscles in my shoulders. The burning sensations in my back, the
pains in my neck, and the migraine attacks all disappeared. Acute
period pains also became less intense.
After two operations, the outcome has been highly
successful. I could barely remember how it felt to be without pain.
Now I'm reborn and feel well. Recovery takes a long time and with
the new enthusiasm of wellbeing one needs to be careful not to overdo
things as it is still necessary to be careful and to pace oneself.
However, I have started to do housework again. I am able to go on
mountain walks, to dance, to ride a bicycle and to swim 1km!

"The design of the scars are
absolutely symmetrical..
They look like the insertion of invisible wings!
My new long-lost
and now found wings of happiness!"

From April 2005 he will be practicing in Switzerland.
Please note that there is a waiting list of
around 8 - 12 months for this operation.
How I found out about the operation?
I learnt about it through a young adolescent who had been searching
the internet for a cure for his mother's illness. It provided information
that neither the rheumatologists that I had previously consulted,
nor the Swiss Fibromyalgia Association, of which I was a member,
were able to provide me with.
